Carolyn G. Crandell

Carolyn G. Crandell, 74, of Marietta, passed away 5:40 am, August 27, 2014 at the Marietta Center.
 
She was born January 15, 1940 in Troy, NY to William Bradford and Josephine (Klepser) Graves.  Carolyn had graduated from William Smith College in Geneva, NY and later from Syracuse University with her Master’s Degree.  She had taught Mathematics in various schools and colleges including Muskingum University for over 45 years before retiring from Washington State Community College.  Carolyn had served on the board of the League of Women Voters as well as the board of the Friends of the Library.  Carolyn also served as the organist for St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cambridge for over 35 years.   She enjoyed spending time volunteering at Marietta Memorial Hospital, meeting her friends at “Monday with the Harmarizers” and knitting items to donate to various organizations.  
 
On June 25, 1960 she married Merrell “Del” Crandell who survives with sons Don (Jean) Crandell of San Diego, CA and Brad (Lisa) Crandell of Germantown, TN.  Also surviving are grandchildren Ciara J.C. and Sabrina S. Garland and Megan N. and Allison M. Crandell.
 
In addition to her parents her sister Elizabeth Graves preceded Carolyn in death.
 
A memorial service will be held 3:30 pm Saturday August 30th at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cambridge with the family greeting friends at the church from 2 pm until the time of the service.  There will be a gathering of family and friends in Marietta on Sunday August 31st from 12 pm to 2 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
