Charles B. Hess
Charles B. Hess, 87, of Marietta passed away at 6:10pm, Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Heartland of Marietta. He was born September 8, 1929, in Fairmont, WV, a son of Carroll Dean Hess and Anita Ray Evans.
Charles was employed as a Design Draftsman for General Electric. He was a graduate of Marietta High School in 1947 and Marietta College in 1952 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was baptized at the First Congregational Church where he was a member for over fifty years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 64, a member of the local musicians Union and played drums with several local bands, and enjoyed model railroading.
On March 30, 1969, he married Pamela Green who survives with 3 sons and 1 daughter: Jeffery A. (Mary Joe Hanlon) Hess of Cleveland, Christopher B. (Sherri) Hess of Marietta, Meredith R. (Bobby) Becker of Marietta, Jason S. (Sarah) Hess of Marietta; grandchildren: Caleb and Connor Hess; Bailey, Griffin and Sydney Becker; Mackenzie and Ella Hess, brother-in-law John P. Green and sister-in-law Penny (Mike) Nicholson.
His parents, mother and father-in-law Neil and Helen Green preceded him in death.
Funeral services with military rites will be held on Sunday (Oct. 16) at 4:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Diann O’Bryant officiating.
