Dorothy Alice White Christopher

Dorothy Alice White Christopher, 93, Belpre, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 surrounded by her family.
 
Dorothy was born on March 30, 1921 to Edward and Lilly White in Spencer, WV.
 
On September 28, 1940, she married Kenneth Ray "Joe" Christopher who preceded her in death. Also preceded, along with parents, are 7 sisters and 4 brothers. Surviving are daughters Betty Venham (James), of Belpre, JoAnn Leglietner (Craig) of Marietta, and son Delbert Wayne "Doc* (Judy) Christopher of Belpre.
 
There are 10 grandchildren. Steve Venham (Donna), Wanda Venham Schaad (former husband Gregory), Morgan Venham (Kelly), Kimberly Higgins (Rusty), Scott Legleitner (PJ), Chris Davis (Patrick), Paul Christopher, Kelly Legleitner (fiance Darrin Gray), Deb Compton (special friend Billy Sturm), and Beth Moyers (Andy); 21 great grandchildren…Gabriel Venham, Andrew Schaad (Brianne), Zachary Schaad (Laticia), Stephanie Schaad Creighton (Dean), Brad Venham (Dawn), Peach Venham (Dalye), Grant Venham, Jessie Jo Higgins, Casey Jo Higgins, Darrin Legleitner (Brittany), Kyle Legleitner, Hannah Dusz (fiance Aaron Anderson), Patrick and Dillon Davis, Ross Stevens, Christopher Stevens (Jess), Craig Farnsworth, Billy Jo Farnsworth, Travis Coy (Nikki), Tracy Coy, and Kenny Moyers;19 great, great grandchildren…Cameron, Dominic, and Macy (in June) Schaad, Kynlee and Koree Schaad, Kali, Jaxon, Josie, and Ryan Venham, Kolten and Kade Venham, Devon and Dylan Legeitner, Braylen Dusz, Emily and Kadin Stevens, Haliee Stevens, Maxwell Coy, and Brantley Coy.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, "adopted" children and grandchildren, and friends who were her extended family.
 
Dorothy was a member of Cutler Chapel United Methodist Church on Veto Road and had attended there for over 60 years. She hardly ever missed a Sunday until her illness prevented her from going.  "Grandma Dorothy" was loved by everyone who met her. It wasn't just her own family, it was neighbors on her road, the mail carriers, doctors, the hospice workers at the end…whoever came into her life was made welcome and felt her love. She will be missed.
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, (Mar. 14) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Earl James.   Burial will be in Barlow Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday after 2:00pm.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
