Dorothy Marie Caldwell

Dorothy Marie Caldwell of Marietta passed away at her home on Thursday, April 20, 2017, surrounded by her family.  She was born on her family farm in Warren Township the daughter of the late Harry and Alice Reynolds Vickers and the late Bessie M. Vickers.

Dorothy was a graduate of Vincent High School.  She was a member of Tunnel United Methodist Church.  Prior to her marriage, Dorothy was employed at The Pottery and later by B. F. Goodrich.  From the garden that she cared for every year, she canned and preserved vegetables for her growing family.  She made delicious home cooked meals and pies and was a self taught painter and a competitive euchre player.
 
On September 22, 1956, she married Earl Albert Caldwell who preceded her in death on April 22, 2009.
 
She is survived by 3 daughters; Jean Ann Caldwell, Nancy Caldwell and Nina (Les) McCutcheon all of Marietta and son, Ernest Caldwell of Roswell, GA; 3 granddaughters: Megan (Robert) Brooks, Stephanie McCutcheon and Emily McCutcheon all of Marietta.  Her brother, Donald Vickers, of Fleming and sister, Bessie Jean Vickers, of Marietta also survive with many nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Vickers; three sisters:  Ethel Wunderlich, Alice Louise Vickers and Doris Ann Vickers, one nephew, Kurt Vickers.  She was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Hilma Caldwell; two sisters-in-law, Mary Vickers and Helen Vickers and one brother-in-law, Herman Wunderlich.
 
The family would like to thank Dr. Kelli Cawley and the staff at Strecker Cancer Center at Marietta Memorial Hospital and Hospice and Nurse Practitioner Marcia McCullogh.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 25, at Tunnel United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow at Tunnel Cemetery.  Family will greet friends on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home and at the church one hour before the service.   Messages of sympathy may be sent at  www.Lankfordfh.com.
