Eric Wilbur Johnson

Eric Wilbur Johnson of Marietta died November 2, 2014, at Heartland at the age of 92.  He was born September 11, 1922, in Mayville, NY, the son of Carl A. and Anna M. Johnson.

He grew up on Chautauqua Lake, NY, where he loved to visit throughout his life.  He graduated from Tri-State College, Angola, Indiana in Mechanical Engineering. He came to Marietta to serve as Chief Engineer for B. F. Goodrich and later joined Smith Concrete where he retired as General Manager. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, and a long-time member of Kiwanis Club and Homebuilders, and was a Mason.

 Wilbur is survived by a son Michael (Susan), and two daughters Carolyn S. Johnson and Beth Mortimer (friend Tim Downs) all of Marietta, four grandchildren Jenny Johnson of Baltimore, MD, William Johnson of Marietta, Eric Mortimer and Chelsea Mortimer of Coeur d'Alene, ID, a sister Dorothy (Robert) Stickrath, and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary, and a brother Edward.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (Nov. 6) at 2:00pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Steven Mahaffey officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Family will greet friends at the church on Thursday from noon until 2:00.  McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
