Garnet M. Dye Henthorn

Garnet M Dye Henthorn, 94, of Marietta passed away at 3:48am, Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.  She was born September 20, 1920, in Pleasants County, WV, a daughter of Griff and Rose Johnson Maston.

Garnet and her husbands owned and operated dairy farms in the area.  She was an active woman who at the age of 94 renewed her driver’s license.  She enjoyed canning, gardening and mowing her yard and observing neighborhood activities.  She attended Twin Rivers Baptist Church.

Garnet married Roland Dye who preceded her in death in 1959.  Surviving are one son and one daughter:  Harold (Phyllis) Dye of Belpre and Catherine (Daris) Miller of Marietta, 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.

On July 15, 1961, Garnet married Earl Henthorn who preceded her in death on February 22, 1990.  Surviving are three stepsons and two stepdaughters:  Richard (friend Beverly Erb) Henthorn of Fleming, Gary (Judy) Henthorn of Cincinnati, Donald (Jeannie) Henthorn of Marietta, Shirley Bowersock Kirkbride (Eugene) of Wingett Run and Barbara  (Ronnie) Bohlen of Marietta, 19 step grandchildren, 33 step great grandchildren, 2 step great, great grandchildren, step daughter-in-law Martha Henthorn Theobald and Jim, step daughter-in-law Judy Henthorn.  She is also survived by her brother Hershel Maston of Belmont, WV and special friend Naomi Moore and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter Treva Walker Evans, 2 grandchildren, 2 sons-in-law James Walker and Donald Evans, 2 step sons David and Charles Henthorn, one step grandson, step daughter-in-law Fern Henthorn, step son-in-law Robert Bowersock.   Also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters:  Georgia McCurry, Glenora Cronin, Glenda Mahaney, Gaynell Steele, Howard Maston, Harold Maston, Herman Maston, Hobert Maston.

Funeral services will be held on Monday (Oct. 20) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Erin Curtis officiating.  Burial will follow in Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island, WV.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00.  Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.Lankfordfh.com.
