George A. Root
George A. Root, 74, of Marietta passed away at 5:30 am Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his home. He was born March 2, 1940, in Marietta to Bernard and Lula Brooks Root.
George was retired from the Washington County Highway Department, was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a member of Number Nine Community Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on his farm and his dog “Max.”
On July 27, 1987, he married Susan Pritchett Worstell who survives with stepson, Scott (Taylor) Worstell and stepdaughter Angie Worstell (Sean Schwendeman) both of Marietta, granddaughter Heather Schwendeman, sister Lillian Emerick of Marietta and several nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Merton Root and sister Betty Sharpe.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Mar. 19) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Dowler officiating. Burial will follow in Moss Run Cemetery.
