Helen Lucille Metts Thompson

Helen Lucille Metts Thompson of Barlow, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2017 in Winter Springs, Florida. Helen was born April 29, 1924 to Edna Schenkel Metts and Everett Metts in Marietta, Ohio. 
 
Helen worked in the Pentagon for the Military Intelligence Censorship Branch during WWII and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. She worked as a bookkeeper for Winans Hardware, Central Office Supply and Pioneer Chevrolet all of Marietta. Ohio and as business manager for New Weihl Olds where she retired in March 1991. Helen enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her husband Clealon, having visited all 50 states. She was a member of the Vincent United Presbyterian Church. 
 
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Wiseman and her husband Joe of Newport, VT and Betty Greene and her husband Al of Winter Springs, FL. Grandchildren, Brian Shiver, Brent and Melody Shiver, Brad and Crystal Nice, Brandi and Clark Beckley, Alex Greene and Ali and Jordan Holt. Step-grandchildren, Scott and Michelle Wiseman and Jason Wiseman and twelve great-grandchildren. 
 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clealon Thompson whom she married on July 9, 1944. Her parents, Everett and Edna Metts, two brothers, Eugene and Paul Metts and one daughter Donna Kay Thompson Shiver. 
 
Friends may call Thursday (Nov. 9) from 4 to 7 at McClure - Schafer Lankford Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Nov. 10) at Christ United Methodist Church, Third and Wooster Street, Marietta, Ohio.
