Jack Eugene Hendershot
Jack Eugene Hendershot, 76, of Lower Salem, passed away 2:55 pm, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Heartland of Marietta.
He was born on April 24, 1938 in Germantown to the late Guy and Frances (Gerken) Hendershot. Jack was a 1956 graduate of Salem Liberty High School and worked in the oil fields, and as a school bus driver and dairy farmer. He also owned and operated the Hendershot General Store in Germantown. Jack served as a Salem Township Trustee and on the Washington County Fair Board for many years. He was a member of the Aurelius Masonic Lodge #308, Eastern Star Masterton Chapter #584, Lowell Moose Lodge 2382 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved hunting, camping and the outdoors.
In 1977 he married Ruth Orr who survives with children Carla Harmon (Dammond), Jack Hendershot, Jr. and stepchildren Jeff Lauer (Kris), Robert Lauer (Debbie), Angie Lauer and Brenda Schwendeman (Dan). Also surviving are step grandchildren Amanda Thomas (Don), William Lauer, Staci Lauer, David Lauer, Charlotte Lauer and step great grandchildren Kristiana and Dominic Thomas.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Monday, January 5th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in Paw Paw Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Sunday at 2pm with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankforfh.com.
