Jackie L. Powell
Jackie L. Powell, 86, of Marietta passed away at 2:30 am, Sunday, November 22, 2015, after a sudden illness. She was born June 29, 1929, in Madison, WV, to the late Jesse and Margaret Boggess Pauley.
Jackie graduated from Skyview High School in Boone County, WV, and attended WVU where she met her future husband, Jack E. Powell, who was later principal at Marietta High School and who passed away July 11, 1996.
Jackie was retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Adult Fellowship Class and the Debra Mullinex Circle. She loved her jewelry, especially her sparkly rings…she never felt completely dressed without her jewelry, she would say. Jackie was a very happy, caring person and she will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her including her furry friend, Chloe Cowdery and grand dog Sadie.
Jackie is survived by her children, Margaret Sue (Mark) Poole of Columbus and Brian D. Powell (Lena Vincent) of Whipple. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Horney and Jean Elkins of Williamstown.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday (Nov. 25) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Mugrage officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 and on Wednesday until the hour of the service. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
