James E. Higgins
James E. Higgins, 83, of Marietta, passed away at Heartland of Marietta on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was born on August 8, 1930, in Parkersburg, WV, to the late Ivan J. and Virginia Fox Higgins.
Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1947-49 on the USS Mississippi. He retired from Elkem in 1993. He enjoyed his family, Bingo, square dancing and his cat “Kitty.” Jim was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years Kathleen VanWey Higgins, daughter Diane (Chuck) Hicks; grandchildren: Matthew (Meghan) Hicks, Emily (Mike) Seaman and Jessica (Jared) Hicks; and his great grandson Austin Seaman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Carver and Shirley Deem, granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Hicks; grandparents, John and Percenia Harper Higgins and Charles S. and Zelma Kesterson Fox.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (June 13) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday after 2:00 pm with family present from 2-4 & 6-8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
