Jenny L. Barnhart
Jenny Barnhart, 84, passed away on Feb. 5, 2015, at Harmar Place in Marietta.
She was born July 22, 1930, in Marietta, the daughter of the late H.E. and Ella Carleton.
She married Charles Barnhart on June 18, 1950. She loved being with her family and she loved reading. Her love of books and especially children's books led to her opening Mother Squirrel's Children's Bookstore, which she owned and operated for more than 30 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Marietta.
She is survived by two children, Lynn Barnhart and Loretta (Allen) Phelps; a granddaughter, Amy Phelps; and two great-granddaughters, Mara and Cordelia Mendenhall. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jack (Nyla) Carleton and Bill (Pat) Carleton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son, Lee Barnhart.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9, at McClure Schafer Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta. Visitation is at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
