John E. Linscott

John E. Linscott, 88, of Highland Ridge Road, died Saturday (August 23, 2014) at Heartland of Marietta.  
 
He was born September 12, 1925, near Cutler, Ohio, the oldest son of Carlos I. And Fannie E. Winters Linscott. He attended Bartlett schools graduating from Bartlett High School in 1943.  On January 12, 1946, he married Edna Marie Hill.  They met while working at Rich Loaf Bakery.  They were married 60 years before she died November 3, 2006.  John was a member of the United State Army.  He worked at many jobs during his lifetime, but he worked and retired from the US Postal Service after 30+ years of service.  He was a 50 year member of Harmar Lodge 390 F & AM, American Union Chapter 1 Royal Arch Masons and the Marietta Commandery No. 50 Knights Templar of Marietta, Ohio.  He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the DAV.  He also a member of NARFE where he held the offices of president, vice president and treasurer.
 
John is survived by his grandson, Christopher (Shannon) Reed and twin great granddaughters, Erin and Meredith Reed.  He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy (Herbert) Farley and a brother David (Sallie) Linscott.  He also is survived by a special friend, Lillian Emerick and his good neighbors on Highland Ridge.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter Anita Reed and an infant son John Michael Linscott.
 
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Aug. 27) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8.  Messages of sympathy may be set at www.Lankfordfh.com.
