John Marshall Harrison

John Marshall Harrison, 82, of Colorado Springs, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs.
 
He was born September 16, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio to R. Marshall and Marie (Long) Harrison. John received his Bachelor’s Degree from Case Western Reserve in 1955 where he was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. After graduation he earned a commission as an officer in the United State Air Force where he served for over 20 years and attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his time in the Air Force, John flew a wide variety of planes before becoming a Command Pilot for both the B-52 Stratofortess and the C-123 Provider. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served for over three years. His military decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, and Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters. John was a devoted husband and father who always focused on providing for others be it family, friends, or his fellow soldiers. 
 
On June 16, 1955 he married Nancy Lou Sturm who preceded him in death on February 15, 2004.
 
Surviving are their children James Marshall Harrison of Colorado Springs and Mary Elizabeth Jarinko of Hurst, Texas. Also surviving are grandchildren Caroline Christine Quillen, and Teresa Lynn Jarinko and great grandchild Lily Victoria Curtis. 
 
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Christie. 
 
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, February 14, 2015 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 am Saturday until the hour of service. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
