Joseph A. Carpenter
Joseph A. Carpenter, 58, of Vincent, Ohio, formerly of the Lower Salem area, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Sunday, January 29, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer. Joe was born March 1, 1958, in Marietta to Larry D. and Hazel R. Morrison Carpenter.
Joe was a dedicated loving family man, cherished husband of Katherine Carpenter for 38 years, who survives. Beloved father of Joe Carpenter II of Vincent, Jessica and Shawn Haga of Vincent, Melissa Mefford of Florida, John and Jennifer Mefford of Marietta, Brooke and Kevin Hayes of Walker, WV. Adored “PAPS” of Bellah and Ryhder Haga, Kory and Dakotah Mefford, Bryn Mefford, Brant Richards, Briana and Bryce Mefford.
He is survived by his mother, Hazel, his brothers Rex and Sherry Carpenter, Dan and Mindy Carpenter all of Lower Salem, two sisters, Tammy and Sam Hastings, Sharon and Dan Harmon all of Indiana, his Aunt Linda Pritchett and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. His extended family, sister and brother-in-law Glenda and Randy Blake, Caroline and Jeff Shimer, Chris and Grace Maxwell, Gene and Robin Maxwell and close friend John McAlarney.
Joe was preceded in death by his father Larry, his sister Edie and Floyd Hastings, nephews Nick Harmon and cousin Chris Pritchett and his beloved dog “Cooper.”
Funeral services will be held Friday (Feb. 3) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in Salem Township Cemetery. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9 until 11. Donations to the funeral home toward Joe’s funeral expenses will be appreciated.
