Joseph Carter
Joseph Carter, 79, of Lower Salem passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015. He was born April 21, 1935, in Marietta a son of Arlene and Charles Robert Carter.
Joe had worked for Marietta Sanitation, Simm’s Brothers Builders, Elston Lumber, and Beckers and Sohio Service stations. He enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes (was 3 times state Champion), mowing, walking and hiking.
He is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter: Gordon (Charlene) Hawkins, Joseph (Angie) Carter, Jr., James Carter and Gloria (Dan) Bigley, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Katheryn Joanne Hawkins Carter, 2 sons, Donald Wayne and Charles Robert Carter, his parents, brothers: Roy, Ray, Kelsey, Robert, and Chester Carter; sisters, Shirley Forshey and May Warfied.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (Mar. 20) at 10:30am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Baumer officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
