Margel June Hambrick

Margel June Hambrick, aged 80, died peacefully on January 15, 2015 at home in Marietta, after a valiant battle with cancer. June was born April 1, 1934 in Sutton, West Virginia, the daughter of Bailey Skidmore and Irene Fulks.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Doris Hopkins.

June thoroughly enjoyed flowers, decorating, Garden Club and being involved in her community. She graduated from Sutton High School and the Charleston School of Commerce.  She attended Morris Harvey College and Marietta College where she furthered her education.

In 1958, June married the love of her life Herman Casto Hambrick, II, and they began their family. In addition to raising their three children she also taught computers at Washington Technical College and was employed at Pioneer Preschool, the Kroger Company Real Estate Department, Union Carbide and Logue & Schwartz Real Estate.

June was an active member of the Marietta First Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served on numerous boards and participated in several circles.

June is survived by her husband Herman Hambrick, II, of Marietta; sister, Karen Huffman (David); brothers John Skidmore (Virginia) and Dan Skidmore (Suzanne) all of Sutton, West Virginia; sons, Herman (Kim) Hambrick, III of Fleming and John (Lydia) Hambrick of Marietta; and daughter, Lynn (David) Broughton of Marietta; grandchildren,  Allison (Chris) Laumann, Elizabeth (Ryan) VanPelt, John Hambrick II, Matthew Hambrick, Joseph Broughton, Megan Broughton, Elena Donnelly, Carolyn Broughton and Carmen Donnelly; great-grandchildren, Georgia Laumann, Cooper Laumann and Austin VanPelt.

Marietta Visitation will be Saturday, January 17th at McClure Schafer Lankford Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 with a service at 7:30pm.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.Lankfordfh.com.

Sutton visitation will be Monday, January 19th at 1:00pm at Morrison United Methodist Church, Airport Road, Sutton, WV, where the funeral and graveside service will begin at 2:00pm.
