Mary E. Hanes

Mary E  Hanes, 84, of Newport passed away on Sunday afternoon (February 15, 2015) at Harmar Place.  She was born May 28, 1930, in Newport the daughter of the late Clyde Raymond and Mary Gail Duffy Tidd.  Mary was a member of Newport Baptist Church in Newport and Valley View Baptist Church in Reno.  She was a homemaker.

On February 23, 1952, Mary married Raymond Hanes who preceded her in death July 30, 1977.  She is survived by 3 sons:  Lewis (Mary Bernadette) of Newport, Russell (Linda) and Mike (Betty) of Marietta; 3 daughters: Linda Gray of Newport, Mary (Kirk) Moore of Biloxi, MS, Teresa (Mark) Ullman of Fleming; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by 2 sisters, Ruby McElfresh and Carolyn Smith of Marietta and 3 brothers:  Allen (Bernadine) Tidd of Marietta, Raymond (Barbara) Tidd and Ronald (Irene) Tidd of Newport.

She was preceded in death by her sister Lucille Greathouse and 3 brothers:  Thomas, Earl and Delbert Tidd.

Funeral services will be held on Friday (Feb. 20) at 1:00 at Valley View Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Morton officiating.  Burial will follow in Newport Cemetery.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 with family present from 2-4 & 6-8.  Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.Lankfordfh.com.
