Michael Popp III
Michael Popp III, passed away on November 25, 2015 in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 19, 1934 in Grant Town, West Virginia. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Glenville State College in 1956 where he played football. He was a head football coach in Kingwood, West Virginia from 1959 to 1965. He moved to Marietta, Ohio in1966 where he was a math teacher and assistant coach at Marietta High School. His passions were football, gardening, fishing, and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents Michael II and Mary Popp, brothers Vic and Harry, sisters Florence, Rosie, and Mary Ann, and hisgrandson Aaron Scott.
He is survived by Gail Popp, his sisters Eva Popp, Elinor Fox, Delores Doak, and many nieces and nephews, his son Michael Popp IV (Sharon), daughter Angela Scott(Steve), granddaughter Sara Scott (Johnny), great grandchildren Quinn Scott and Maya Mills, daughter Tina Savage (Walt), grandson Dylan Wells, granddaughter Lyndsay Savage Bowers(Joey).
Funeral services will be held 3 pm Saturday November 28th at McClure_Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, burial to follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 1 – 3pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in memory of Michael Popp III tot he Strecker Cancer Center.
