Nellie M. Thompson
Nellie M. Thompson, 97, of Newport passed away August 23, 2017 at Harmar place. She was born August 24, 1919 in Hinton, WV to Frank and Lilly Bradberry. Nellie was a member of the Newport Church of Christ for over 68 years.
On July 2, 1948 she married Sanford Thompson who preceded her in death in May of 1990.
Surviving are her children Thomas (Betty) Keaton, Kay Payne , Jack (Shirley) Keaton and Nancy (Joe) Riggs, 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A sister Jean Yancy also survives.
In additon to her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by a son-in-law Terry Payne, a grandson and 6 brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held 2pm Saturday, August 26th in Newport Cemetery with Roger Rush officiating. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
