Richard E. Brooks, Sr
Richard E. Brooks, Sr., 76, of Muskingum River Road, Lowell, passed away at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born in Parkersburg, WV, on October 30, 1931, a son of Jay E. Brooks and Harriett Turner Brooks. He was retired from U. S. Air Force and later retired from Mid-Ohio Valley Cable Co. He was a member of VFW Post 5108, American Legion Post 64 and an active member of various Masonic organizations in the area.
He was married to Carolyn Mae Pickens who preceded him in death on December 1, 1981. Surviving are 1 son and 3 daughters: Richard E. Brooks, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Carol Denise (Roger) Horst of McPherson, KS, Renee (Edwin) Luciano of Bellevue, NE, Rebecca L. (David) Brown of Raleigh, NC, 6 grandchildren: Sara Jantz, Nathaniel Horst, Christopher Horst, Edwin A. Luciano, Richard A. Luciano, Alicia M. Brown. He later married Shirley Brooks who also preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was predeceased by 2 brothers: Robert Brooks and Ronald G. Brooks.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6th, at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military services. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 pm. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Friday at 2:00 pm with family present from 2 until 4 and from 7 until 9.
