Ronald Dean Huffman

Now present with his Heavenly Father, whom he loved and served since trusting Christ as his Savior in 1975, Ronnie Huffman left his earthly home early Friday morning.   Both loves-of-his-life who tenderly cared for him were present: Joanne, whom he married in 1957, and daughter Cathey, who entered their lives in 1963.

Born March 27,1927, to William and Dortha Cassidy Huffman in Malta, Ohio, Ron attended
Dexter City High School.   Persuading his parents to sign the documents, he entered the U.S.
Navy at the young age of 17. Stationed on The Ajax, a navy repair ship, Ron spent the bulk of his 4 years in the South Pacific.

Returning home, Ron worked for Marietta Concrete, traveling as a silo and industrial bin builder throughout Ohio and surrounding states. Needing to settle after many years on the road, the Huffmans established a local Ashland Oil distribution center on the river at Moores Junction. Upon retirement from Ashland, they owned and operated Huffmans Mobile Home Park (formerly Crest Haven) on Sandhill Road in Reno, until finally retiring in 1990.

Never being able to pass up a good auction or opportunity to wheel and deal, Ron joined his buddy, Bill Putnam, on a new business venture, establishing Rinky Dinks Flea Market in 1983, where he made many deals and friends down through the years.

A charter member and founding deacon of Faith Bible Church (now Evergreen) in Williamstown, WV, Ron went on to serve at the former Pioneer Baptist Church. Upon his death, Ron was a faithful, active member of Soul's Harbor Baptist Church. Known as a generous man when it came to supporting God's work and servants, he served alongside JoAnne in Soul's Harbor's Seedline Ministry, compiling the books of John and Romans in multiple languages for worldwide distribution.

Preceded in death by brothers, Eddie and Wilfred, and earlier this year, by special nephew, Larry Huffman, he has 2 nieces and a nephew remaining: Linda Lowe (Kevin), Debbie Church (Ron) and Kenny Huffman.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday (Nov.9) at Soul’s Harbor Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Hughes officiating.  His final resting place will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.    Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church .  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.

JoAnne and Cathey wish to thank MMH medical personal; Hospice nurses, Brittany and Ruthy; and especially their church family at Soul's Harbor, for their kindnesses and help during the weeks preceding Ron's home-going,
