Rose Marie Zimmer

Rose Marie Zimmer, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2017. In Rose Marie's words, she "lived a quiet life by choice."  However, all who knew her had no trouble recognizing her inner strength, wisdom, and courage.

In September 1947, Rose Marie Baldwin married Edward Zimmer, a WWII veteran and career member of the USAF. Thus began quite the adventure! Just two weeks after their marriage, Rose Marie traveled to post-WWII Japan alone to join her husband who was stationed there. Through the years the Air Force took them to quite a variety of stops along the way before they permanently landed on a small farm outside of Rome, NY, home state for both of them. In 1996, the couple moved to the Marietta area.

Rose Marie had a multitude of interests. She was a Master Gardener, an avid bird and dog lover. She had a wealth of knowledge on many subjects and loved sharing with her family. Surviving are her four sons: Keith Zimmer (Lucille) of Tecumseh, Kansas, Mark Zimmer of Marietta, Jody Zimmer (Pam) of Benton, Illinois, and Eric Zimmer (Beverly) of Marietta. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Edward Zimmer in 2003, their daughter, Amy Ouellette, in 2005, and two daughters-in-law, Angie in 2012 and Angela in 2017.
A private family memorial service will be held in the near future.

The family would like to thank the owner and staff of Hannah's House assisted living facility for all the wonderful care they provided Rose Marie the past six months. They provided a wonderful home away from home for her!

McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
