Samuel R. Flannery

Samuel R. Flannery, 73, of Marietta passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 9:12 pm at Marietta Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained from an auto accident.  He was born on August 20, 1941, in Marietta a son of the late Carl and Virginia Cameron Flannery.

Sam graduated from Warren High School in 1960 and worked for Main Star Oil Company as a mechanic and truck driver for many years.  He later worked for Remington Rand and retired from Kardex after 38 years of service.  Sam was an avid racecar fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and tinkering in his garage his whole life.  He also enjoyed visiting his friends, spending time with his family and being outside.  He was a member of U. S. Steel Workers Union, a life member of Washington County Fish and Game, and had been a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles #458 and Elks Club for many years.

 
Sam is survived by his only child Melissa A. Flannery and her partner Tiffany K Martin, granddaughter Kayla A. Toby and boy friend Ben Stoke, his former wife Judith A. Flannery and partner Doug Wiley, 2 step-daughters Debbie (Robert) Lauer and Linda (Mark) Lang; 3 step grandchildren:  Stacy Lauer, Jacob and Emma Lang, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
 
He was preceded in death by parents, grandparents and wife Donna Flannery.
 
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (Mar. 24) at 2:00pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Dennis Frary officiating.   Burial will be in Tunnel Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www:Lankfordfh.com.
