Sylvia McKenzie Cumberledge

Sylvia M. McKenzie Cumberledge, 84, of Marietta passed away at 1:45pm Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Marietta Center.  She was born February 14, 1930, in Charlestown, WV, a daughter of John Jacob Salisbury II and Odessa V. Owens Salisbury.

Sylvia was a graduate of Parkersburg High School in 1947 and attended Mountain State College and Washington Technical College where she earned an Associates Degree in Secretarial Sciences.  She was retired from Marietta College where she was an accounts payable supervisor.  She was a member of Norwood United Methodist Church.

She was married to Dale McKenzie who preceded her in death.  Two sons and two daughters survive this marriage: Paul Edward (Karen) McKenzie of Hollester, CA, Samuel B. McKenzie of Chillicothe, OH, Claudia Smith of AZ, Colleen A. (Joe) Hammond of Mason City, OH.

She later married Allen K. Cumberledge who also preceded her in death.  One stepson and one stepdaughter survive:  Randy Cumberledge of Marietta, Tera Greenstein of Parkersburg.  She is also survived by her sister Rose (Michael) Conley of Cleveland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Byron McKenzie, daughter Carole Wright, brother John Jacob Salisbury III, 2 sisters, Vickey Giffin and Norma Lee Stoltz.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (Feb. 10) at 10:30 am at Norwood United Methodist Church with Reverend Stacy Evans officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Monday from 4 until 8 and at the church on Tuesday one hour before the service.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
