Velma Gay Worstell
Velma Gay Worstell, 91, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away August 2, 2015, at The Arbors of Marietta. She was born in Washington County, Ohio, December 3, 1923, a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Ona Ethel Casto McBride. She was a protestant by faith.
Velma was a homemaker and did it with love and care. She enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker who showered her family with home made treats. Velma loved her family and devoted her life to them.
On October 22, 1940, she married Charles G. Worstell who preceded her in death on April 14, 1985.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Stewart, and two sons, Gene Worstell and Steve Worstell; 2 granddaughters, Lisa Stewart and Angie Worstell, grandson Scott (Taylor) Worstell, great granddaughter Heather Schwendeman, sister Helen Lee and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son-in-law Ron Stewart, 2 brothers, Robert McBride and Pearl Martin, 4 sisters: Hazel Sims, Thelma Becker (twin sister), Opal Slider and Jessie Rose McBride.
Funeral service will be held on Friday (Aug. 7) at 1:00pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with interment following in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 and on Thursday from 2-4 & 6 to 8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
