On Tuesday, August 13th Barry Brown, Sr. 80, of Belpre, Ohio answered the call of his beloved Lord as he called this good and faithful servant home. With his wife, Helen of 59 years, his 4 sons and 2 sisters, plus other friends and family at his side, he started his journey that he had prepared for all his life.

Barry entered this world on July 19, 1939, the 6th son and 9th child of the 10 children born to Clara and Valdred D. Brown, Sr. He is greeted in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Nada B. Smith and Nina L. Brown and brothers, Lloyd H., Vernon P., Donald G., Valdred D. Jr., and Stephen T.

Barry graduated from PHS in 1957, where he played football and developed a lifetime love of the game. He worked at several jobs before joining Dupont as an mechanic’s apprentice. He worked there for 31 years, until his retirement on December 31, 1993.

He was a lifelong member of Logan Memorial United Methodist Church serving his God in many capacities, i.e., member of the Ad Council, Finance Committee, church choir, Trustee and custodian, keeping the historical Church in excellent condition both inside and out. He will be missed by the whole congregation past and present.

Barry is survived by his wife, Helen Harvey Brown, 4 sons, Barry T., Jr. (Michele), Aaron L., (Dan), Lloyd A.(Trudy), and Brian E. (Karen).

Barry’s legacy to his sons include but not limited to his love of God, his wonderful work ethic, his respect of nature, his laughter, storytelling and his peaceful spirit. The grandchildren will always remember their “Pap”. Nicole Brown Haddox (Nick), Barry T., III, Jeremiah, Meredith, Sonnie, Sarah, Christopher and Donna. There are 4 great grandchildren, Liam, Cameron, Bella, Emelia Haddox.

His sisters, Nona M. Davis (Parkersburg) and C. Victoria Coleman (Piedmont, WV) will always remember their special relationship with their brother.

He and Helen have a host of nieces, nephews of Browns, Harveys, Kimbrough, Millers and special friend, Jeff Dennis, who will bring love and support during this time of bereavement.

Visitation is Friday, August 16th from 6-8p at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, 314 4th Street, Marietta, OH 45750. The “Going Home Celebration” will be Monday, August 19th at 11a, at Logan Memorial United Methodist Church, 527 Ann Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Davis officiating, with the internment immediately following at Barnet Ridge Cemetery.
