Earl Albert Caldwell

Earl Albert Caldwell, 82, of Marietta, passed away on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 at his home.

He was born July 7th, 1926 at Arends Ridge, the only child of the late Ernest Ford and Hilma Katherine Dauber Caldwell. He graduated from Marietta High School with the Class of 1944. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Sergeant during World War II in the Asia-Pacific Theater. After proudly serving his country, he returned to Marietta where he later began his career at BF Goodrich. He retired from his Foreman position in 1985.
On September 22nd, 1956, he married Dorothy Marie Vickers, who survives with three daughters, Jean Ann Caldwell, Nancy Caldwell, Nina (Les) McCutcheon, all of Marietta; one son, Ernest Caldwell, of Dunwoody, Georgia; and three granddaughters, Megan, Stephanie, and Emily McCutcheon, of Marietta. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Donald Vickers; three sisters-in-law, Ethel Wunderlich, Bessie Jean and Louise Vickers, all of Marietta; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Tunnel United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was interested in antique cars, tractors, steam engines, trains, and air shows but most of all he was always helping family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five uncles, Russell, Curtis, Willis, Charles, and Elmer Caldwell; and five aunts, Mable Caldwell, Mildred Duckworth, Florence Knoch, Zelma Biehl, and Ellen Sarver. He was also preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Bessie Vickers; two brothers-in-law, Carl Vickers and Herman Wunderlich; and one sister-in-law, Doris Ann Vickers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday (April 25) at 11:00 am at Tunnel United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Thomas officiating.   Burial will be in  Tunnel Cemetery with full military rites.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home from 2:00 on Friday afternoon and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.  On line condolences may be made at:  www.mslfuneralhome.com.
