Ernest “Ernie” Morrison

Ernest “Ernie” Morrison, 60, of Marietta passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at 10:20 am at his home.

He was born on August 28, 1948, in Warren, Ohio, a son of Raymond Owen Morrison.  Ernie graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1967.  He was a 6 year Army veteran who served 2 tours in Viet Nam.  He was employed for 32 years by the U. S. Postal Service as a postman whose routes included Colegate Drive, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Streets.  He loved his job and customers.  His hobbies were photography, camping and trains.  He had a craft business for 20 years.

On February 12, 1977, he married Deborah Wilson who survives with one son and one daughter: Christopher (Srim Placides) Morrison of Columbus and Elizabeth “Libby” Boersma of Parkersburg; his beloved grandchildren Caleb Boersma, Audrey Schnell, Connor Schnell and Asher Morrison.  He is also survived by his sisters, June Liston who helped care for him, Patricia Liston of Beverly, and brother Richard Morrison of Parkersburg, special family friends Sandi and Cameron Weckbacker and Tee and Kay Gillis, several nieces, nephews and constant companions:  Munchi, Shasta and Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his father, infant son Charles Morrison, twin sister Ernestine Francis, brother Walton Morrison, brother-in-law John Liston and his very special long time friends, Jane and Ken Eddy.

The family would like to thank Hospice and Strecker Cancer Center for all the special care they gave Ernie.

Funeral services will be held on Monday (April 20) at 1:30 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in Salem Township Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 on Sunday afternoon with family present from 2 until 4 and from 6 until 8.  Memorial contributions in Ernie’s memory may be made to Hospice or the Ohio Valley Humane Society.  On line condolences are available at:  www.mslfuneralhome.com.
