Hugh A. McConkey

Hugh A. McConkey, 86, of Marietta passed away at 10:20 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at his home. He was born on March 30, 1934, in Wheeling, WV, a son of Hugh E. and Faye Hallett McConkey.

He graduated from Warwood High School in Wheeling and West Virginia University. Hugh was employed by Dravo Corporation as a purchasing agent until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of First Baptist Church, Marietta Noon Lions, active in the community with Chamber of Commerce and a member of Marietta City Council.

On March 22, 1958 he married Ramona Heavilon who survives with 2 daughters, Jill Deming (Paul Schofield) of Marietta and Sandra Hyde (John) of Columbus, granddaughter Abigail Hyde, sister Judy (Robert) McCoy of McCarr, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Linda.

The family will greet friends on Saturday (May 23) from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with a private graveside service following. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.Lankfordfh.com.
