John R. Wright, 84, of Beverly, OH passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. He was born August 2, 1934, in Marietta, Ohio to Robert Wright and Mary (Becker) Wright.

He was a member of the Beverly Baptist Church. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. He worked as a police officer for the Marietta Police Department and retired as an Electrical Engineer from RJF.

He was married to Betty Lou (McGuire) Wright for 61 years until her death in 2018. He is survived by three children: John (Pam) Wright of Massillon, Ohio; Edward (Kari) Wright of Marietta, Ohio; Sandra (Alan) Voss of Clearwater, Florida; nine grandchildren: Jeremy Wright, Amanda Wright, Eric Wright, Valerie Wright, Holly Kobe, Keith Wright, Tilly Wright, Ava Wright, Ryan Voss; and seven great-grandchildren: Mikah, Tessie, Hudson, Lily, Miles, Evelyn and Ivy.

He is also survived by two brothers: Ronald (Julia) Wright, David (Bonnie) Wright and three sisters: Marian (Bill) Russell, Rose (Jack) Casto and Judy (Eddy) Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Wright, his parents, his daughter, Susan Wright, and one sister, Patricia Kilmer.

He will always be remembered as a faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to spoil his family and he set an example to be followed for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held on Monday (July 8) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in East Lawn Memorial Park. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 until 6 pm. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.Lankfordfh.com.
