Marilyn Joann Brum, 86, of Marietta passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2019, at her home at Elmcroft. She was born August 18, 1933, the only child of Harold and Ethel Myers.

She graduated from Marietta HS in 1949 at age 16, because she had insisted upon starting first grade at age 4, with her older cousins. After Graduation, she attended Harding University, later working at Montgomery Ward and Broughton’s Restaurant.

She was a full time homemaker until her children were grown. Then she worked at Harts and Marietta College bookstore. She also volunteered for 17 years at Campus Martius, Marietta Visitors Bureau and in her daughter’s kindergarten classroom at Reno School. Marilyn was also a member of Pride & Joy CCL, several Fenton Clubs, and Sixth and Washington Church of Christ.

She enjoyed game shows, trivia, reading, crossword puzzles and any kind of chocolate. She often thought of her beloved friends and family.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Frank L. Brum, and their infant son, Franklin, Jr.

She is survived by her 4 children: Tom (Joan) Brum of Hamilton, OH and children Jessica (Aaron) Likes and Landon of Ft. Wayne, IN and Jared (Julie) Brum and Bronwyn, Scarlet and Phillip of Hamilton, OH; Jack (Nancy) Brum of Marietta; David (Melissa) Brum and children Matthew (Judith) Mayle and Madison, Sherry (Dave) Bennett and Jackson and Rachel Brum and Scylla all of Aurora, CO; Jo Anne (Tom) Huck of Marietta and children Megan (John) Bowers and Weston of Lancaster, OH, Aaron (Taylor) Huck and Kohen, and Caitlin Huck all of Marietta.

The family would like to thank hospice and the Elmcroft staff for their kind and respectful care, her special friends for the lifelong support and Roger Rush for his devotion and kindness over the years.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday (Dec. 7) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Roger Rush officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.
