Roy E. Barnes
Roy E. Barnes, 94, of Marietta passed away at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Harmar Place. He was born June 12, 1925, in Marietta a son of Roy E. and Emma Bodmar Barnes, Sr.
Roy was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in WWII in the 2nd Armored Division in North Africa and Italy from 1942 to 1944. He was a member of the Methodist Church and had been employed at Crescent Supply and Smith & Phillips Furniture Store.
On October 11, 1947, he married Loucinda “Eleanor” Perry who preceded him in death on March 27, 2018. He is survived with 2 sons and 2 daughters: Dolores Scott of Jacksonville, FL, Margaret Williams of Marietta, James Barnes of Vale, NC, Clifford (Lori) Barnes of Marietta, 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Roy Deane Barnes, daughter-in-law Deana Barnes.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (July 2) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Family will greet friends before the service from 10:00 – 11:00.
