Ruth M. Vanwey

Ruth M. Vanwey, 92, passed away on October 27, 2008, at The Arbors where she had been a patient for 2 weeks.  She previously had been a resident of Hannah’s House.

Ruth was born on August 5, 1916, in Marietta to Herman M. and Lulu M. Abicht Weyrich.  On January 18, 1938, she married Donald R. Vanwey who preceded her in death on May 16, 1986.  They were parents of one daughter, Karen K. Lemley of Coolville, a grandson Richard Lemley and his wife Serena of Coolville, and great grandson Jacob.  Also surviving is a brother Charles R. Weyrich and wife Adrienne of Fleming, brother-in-law Floyd Berg of Marietta, sister-in-law Helen Weyrich of Orlando, FL, nieces Susan and Elaine Weyrich of FL, Judy Holback of Marietta and Teresa (Bill) Benton of Fleming and 4 great nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Bill, sister Anita, and son-in-law Gary Lemley.

Ruth enjoyed being a member of 55 plus and volunteering at Marietta Memorial Hospital, playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles and playing the organ and piano.  She was a member of Christ Untied Methodist Church in Marietta.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Bruce Tuxhorn officiating.   Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 on Thursday afternoon until the hour of the service.
