Frank Harry Bartlett
Frank Harry Bartlett born June 15,1929, passed away peacefully, March 19, 2016. He was the son of Leroy H. and Marie Spies Bartlett, both deceased.
Frank graduated from Marietta High School in 1948, then was employed by B. F. Goodrich/RJF, Marietta, Ohio as an Engineer with 42 years of service where he retired in 1989. He founded and operated the Bartlett Sharpening Service in Marietta after retirement.
Frank grew up on the Bartlett farm in Oak Grove. On October 29,1949 he married Rosemary Schweikert at the Trinity Methodist Church, Marietta, Ohio. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, life member of Marietta Gun Club where he was on Board of Director's and enjoyed shooting skeet and trap. He was a past member of the Fort Harmar Rifle Club, NRA, The Ohio Gun Collectors and The Washington County Fish and Game Association.
Frank enjoyed spending time with his sons working on various projects and especially hunting at the family farms in Oak Grove and Longview Acres located on County Road 11. He also enjoyed hunting with his English Setters for quail, grouse, pheasant and was an avid deer hunter. Frank always helped many others on their projects and spent a lot of his time maintaining the family farms for outdoor enjoyment with his family. He enjoyed taking rides in the country, especially with Rosie.
Frank took great pride in his yard and flowers at 525 Fifth St., Marietta, Ohio. He met each day with a smile which he passed on to others and his words of advice to many, "you have to keep smiling and keep moving."
He is survived by his children Frank Alan Bartlett (Barbara), Mark Steven Bartlett (Kathy), Dean Joseph Bartlett and John William Bartlett (Kristi). Grandchildren: Amy Koher (Rick), Anda Coiner (Mike), Matthew Bartlett (Sarah), Christa Holman (Shannon), Jenna Boley (Ryan), Adam Bartlett (Holli), Scott Bartlett (Jennifer), Andrew Bartlett, Paula Hedrick (Mac), and Tom Bartlett (Amanda). Great Grandchildren: Baylee Adams, Emma Coiner, Audrey Coiner, Will Coiner, Benjamin Bartlett, Abigal Rose Bartlett, Ayden Holman, Coen Holman, Kallie Rose Boley, Haylee Bartlett, Abbie Joy Bartlett, Easton Hunter Bartlett, Brody Wooten, Emily Hedrick, Megan Hedrick and Kya Marie Bartlett. Survived by sister Mrs. Donald Schaad (Barbara), sister-in-law Mrs. James F. Schweikert (Diane), first cousin Faye Spies and many numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Rosemary Schweikert Bartlett, his sister Mrs. Kenneth Parks (Jeanette), brother-in-law, Kenneth Parks and brother in-law James F. Schweikert, parents Leroy H. and Marie Spies Bartlett, and his in-laws Walter and Esther Meek Schweikert.
Service will be at McClure-Schafer Lankford Funeral Home, Marietta, Ohio on Wednesday (Mar. 23) at 10:00 am with Pastor Don Archer of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Viewing for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8. Burial with concluding service will be held following the funeral service at Mound Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio.
