William C. “Carl” Bonar
William C. “Carl” Bonar, 96, of Marietta passed away at 1:00pm, Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Harmar Place. He was born March 9, 1920, in Elk Township, Noble County, Ohio, to Clarence and Mattie Gilreath Bonar. Carl was employed at Airolite retiring in March, 1986, after 29 years. He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army during World War II from 1942 until 1946 and was a member of Soul’s Harbor Baptist Church.
On March 13, 1941, he married Madge VanFossen who preceded him in death on October 30, 2009. He is survived by 2 sons, Lloyd C. (Maudie Kitts) Bonar of Marietta and Larry D. (Wilma Mendenhall) Bonar of Newport and 2 daughters, Wanda (Larry) Delancy of Williamstown and Cheryl (Allen) Weaver of Tunnel. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several great, great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Lois Corbitt, Eleanor Pangle, Bertha King, sister-in-law Betty VanFossen and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Victor Bonar and daughter-in-law Annette Bonar.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday (Aug. 9) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Lowe officiating with burial following in Valley Cemetery with full military honors.
