William Edgar “Willie” Carpenter, Sr.

William Edgar “Willie” Carpenter, Sr. , 80, of Lowell passed away 6:30 am, Tuesday September 6, 2016 at his home.

He was born November 28, 1935 in Parkersburg to Everett Earl Carpenter and Florence Robinson. Willie was employed at Silvesco, Remington Rand and McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. He was a veteran of the US Army and had served in Korea. Willie was a member of the VFW Post 5108.

On May 10, 1954 he married Dorothy Long who survives with their children Sherille (Ray) Augenstein, Margie (Sean) Carpenter, Cindy Carpenter all of Lowell, Julie Bixler, Susan Trent and John Carpenter all of Newark. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, including 2 dedicated granddaughters Katie Jeffers and Pam Carpenter, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Willie was preceded in death by children: William E. Carpenter, Jr. James E. Carpenter and Amy Jo Carpenter, in addition to 5 siblings.

Military Rites will be held 11 am Friday September 9th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Friends may call 1 hour before the service on Friday.
