Elnora June Hall Ransaw
Elnora June Hall Ransaw, 93, of Marietta, Ohio passed away March 1, 2017 at Harmar Place.
She was born June 25, 1923 to John W. Hall and Freda Biehl Hall. She graduated from Beverly High School and Marietta Business School. At the beginning of World War II she was employed as Secretary at Wright Paterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio and later she enlisted in the Navy WAVES serving two and one half years. While in Dayton she studied voice at the Conservatory of Music and the Proctor School of Music. After refusing an offer of joining a Chicago Symphony Orchestra as a soprano soloist, she in later years served many years as a church soloist.
In 1946 she married Harold Ransaw of Akron, Ohio. They lived in the Akron-Doylestown area where Harold was employed at Firestone Research Laboratories and she at Akron Savings & Loan Bank and as a Church Secretary. After retirement they moved to Marietta where Harold died in 2001. They were members of the Crown of Life Lutheran Church. June's many interests included music, art, gardening and genealogy
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years,
two brothers John W. (Bill) Hall and Wilbur Dean Hall, a sister Louise Mendenhall, and a sister-in-law Lucille Ransaw.
Surviving are a daughter Patricia Pond of Doylestown, Ohio, a son David Harold Ransaw of Portland Maine, three grandchildren and one great grandson. Also special niece and nephew, Claire Mendenhall and Jeffrey Hall of Marietta and the special friends of her church family survive her.
Services will be held 2 pm Saturday March 4th at Crown of Life Lutheran Church, (301 Wooster St., Marietta)with Pastor Clinton Kreuziger officiating. Burial will follow at the Waterford Cemetery. The family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral arrangements are being made by McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.
