Eva Mae West
Eva Mae West, 85, of Marietta, was greeted in Heaven by her Savior and her parents on Sunday, April 25, 2010.
She was born on August 13, 1924, in Charleston, WV, to William Ivy West and Edna Harris West. Her family moved to Lowell in 1929. She graduated from Lowell High School in 1942. Following graduation, she went to work at Marietta Office Supply ((later Garrison-Brewer). She retired in 1994 after 52 years. Eva loved her accounting job and was very loyal to the Garrison family. She was a member of the Marietta First Church of the Nazarene. Her greatest happiness came from her family. She attended all birthday parties, weddings, showers and graduation. She hosted a family gathering in her home every Christmas Eve. It was her favorite day of the year.
Eva is survived by 2 brothers and 4 sisters: William Cletis (Thelma) West of Marietta, Ronald (Cheryl) West of Marietta, Belva Strickland of Marietta, Frances (Kenneth) Carver of Marietta, Clara “Cricket” Hendershot of Newport, Dorothy Wittekind of Marietta; special friend, Minnie Pfalzgraph of Marietta and numerous nieces and nephews, all who loved her dearly and considered her a second mom.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law: David Hendershot, Ted Strickland and Dwight Wittekind.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (April 28th) at 1:00pm at Marietta First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Terry Schmelzenbach officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Tuesday after 3:00 with the family present from 3-5 and 6-8 and at the church one hour before the service. .
Memorial contributions may be made in Eva’s name to the First Church of the Nazarene, 100 Millcreek Road, Marietta.
