Abraham Miles Wagner
Abraham Miles Wagner, 97, passed away on October 15, 2008 at Eagle Pointe Nursing Home.
He was the son of the late Waldo and Laura Miller Wagner. He was a member of the United
Methodist Church in West Lafayette, Ohio, where he taught the West Lafayette Bugler Sunday School class. He worked his way through the High School in three years and was class valedictorian. He received his BA from Glenville State College and his MA from Marshall University. He completed additional work at the University of Buffalo and at Columbia University. He taught in Maryland, 3 School districts in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Ohio — a total of forty years. His greatest joy in life was in transforming a child into a beautiful writer.
He worked in Quality Control in the H. J. Heinz plant in Medina, New York. He was superintendent of Quality Control in the Doeler-Jarvis Plant in Batavia, New York. At that time they were the world's largest producers of die-castings. He worked in Kaiser Aluminum Plant in Ravenswood, West Virginia. On the last hour of his last day they called him up to the main office and told him that he was the best man that they ever hired since the plant was built and that they wanted him to know that before he left. His travels took him all over North America and Europe. He loved farming. Early on he grew strawberries in West Virginia and New York. Later he truck farmed in Ohio.
He was married to Nell “Judy” Wagner who pass away on June 7, 1997.
Surviving is his son Max (Anita) Wagner, grandson Nathan Wagner, and great grandson Nathan B. and Hyden all of Parkersburg.
In addition to his parents and wife, 9 brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
