James M. “Jim” Layne

Portrait of James M. “Jim” Layne

James M. “Jim” Layne, age 64, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026. Born on October 29, 1961, in Gallipolis, Ohio, Jim spent the majority of his life in Marietta, where he worked at Profusion Industries.

Jim was the epitome of a hard-working man. Devoted entirely to his family, he dedicated his life to ensuring they were always safe, supported, and deeply cared for. To those who knew him best, Jim was a fiercely loyal husband, son, and father whose quiet strength was a constant anchor. When he wasn’t working, Jim found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending quiet hours in his garden and took great pride in shooting and practicing at the range.

Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Tammi Layne; his son, Travis Layne; and his daughter, Cassie Layne. He was a proud grandfather to several grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his dear cousin, Dottie Sue, his nieces, Heather and Cheri Calhoun, and his two great nephews.

Jim was welcomed into eternity by those who went before him, including his mother, Dorothy Layne; his father, William “Bill” Layne, his sister, Judy Layne; and his beloved cat, Thumper.
