Gary David Caplinger

Gary David Caplinger, 85, of Marietta went to be with his wife on their anniversary at 5:05pm, August 15, 2026 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 3, 1941, in Parkersburg, WV a son of Sandford Caplinger and Leo Aldi Gregory. He worked in body shop repair for many different body shops around Marietta. He drove stock cars and enjoyed tinkering and fixed all sort of things, but he really loved to repair accident vehicles back to showroom finishes. He loved to play jokes on people and enjoyed life.

On August 15, 1964, he married Georgia McGrew who passed away on October 14, 2023.

Surviving are his children: Amy (Eddy) Perry and Brenda Caplinger; grandchildren: Mitchell (Stephanie) Perry, Sarah Perry, Ashley Caplinger and Tori Perry; great grandchildren: Madison, Chance, Jamison, Jayden, Emma, Alyssa, Hope and a close niece Pauline, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday (Aug. 20) at 11:00 am at McClure Schafer Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in Tunnel Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
