Shirley Morrow
Shirley Morrow, 88, of Marietta was born on October 17, 1937 in Noble Co. Ohio to the late Mary Stevens Orr Rogers, and James Urban Orr.
In her final hours on September 19, 2026, she was surrounded by the quiet love of her family, a bright red cardinal appeared on the windowsill- a gentle reminder of her beloved husband, Kenny, coming to guide her home before she peacefully departed her life on earth. She leaves behind a life defined by extraordinary devotion, boundless nurturing, and a love story for the ages. Known for her gentle strength and generous spirit, Shirley touched countless lives as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, babysitter, neighbor, and friend. It’s fitting to say that her legacy is stitched into the hearts of everyone she raised, cared for, and loved. One stitch at a time, she ‘quilted’ the most beautiful works of heart that were her cherished relationships with those dear to her.
Shirley’s heart found its lifelong home when she met the man of her dreams at a dancehall operated by a friends’ father on Highland Ridge in Marietta, Ohio. She was 15 and he was 18, they were married within two years, when she graduated from Lower Salem High School in 1955, and they embarked on a breathtaking 65-year journey of marriage before his passing in October 2020. Together, they built a family anchored in faith, gratitude, and unconditional love. Even after losing her beloved husband six years ago, Shirley kept his memory vividly alive, cherished the rich details and memories of their travels and adventures together.
Born with a natural gift for nurturing, Shirley’s capacity to care for others seemed limitless. In addition to raising her own 2 children, she spent decades babysitting numerous children and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She formed deep, lasting bonds not only with the children she watched over, but with their parents as well. For over 25 years she worked for Zides Sport Shop doing home sewing. She was also a very talented seamstress who- even when she preferred to skip alterations- would always cheerfully do them anyway.
A woman of profound faith, Shirley and her husband were devoted members of the Marietta Bible Center Church since 1968. She poured her heart into her church family and the Bible College students, serving faithfully as a nursery helper and rocking babies well into her 80’s. In her final six months, she attended The Journey on Park Avenue in Parkersburg alongside her granddaughter and great-grandson, quickly capturing the hearts of that church community as well.
Shirley found joy in life’s simple beautiful moments. She spent her days reading, working through word search books, tending to her flowers- irises, lilies, and resurrection lilies- and relaxing on her granddaughters back patio while watching the deer and birds. She loved being outdoors, taking long walks and napping alongside her Pomeranian grand-dog, Armin. She also enjoyed attending the soccer games of her youngest great-grandsons. An exceptional homemaker, she loved crafting intricate handmade quilts to gift to loved ones, hunting for antiques to refinish, and curating a treasured collection of Fenton glass, knowing the history behind every single piece. She was known for her delicious homemade pies.
Shirley deeply treasured her neighbors on Wells Avenue, and she proudly told everyone that she had ‘the best neighbors’, and that she did. Her family remains profoundly grateful for the selfless acts of kindness and enduring friendship shown by her community over the years.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Morrow; son, Randall “Randy” Morrow, and her four beloved siblings, with whom she shared a lifelong bond and close relationship, and who each lived long, fulfilling lives.
She is survived by her granddaughter and long-time caretaker, Danielle Johnson; great-grandson, Joseph Barton; and their sweet fur-baby, Armin, all of which whom she shared her final chapter. A daughter, Pamela Morrow. Her grandson Zach Morrow and his wife, Cassy, and their children, Gage, Aryln, Izach, and Hailey. Granddaughter Kristina Morrow (fiancé Kevin) and children, Nevaeh and Kameron Howard. And her granddaughter Jerika Morrow. Also surviving are numerous friends; brothers and sisters in Christ; lifelong best friend since the first grade, Donna Mae Bailey; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Shirley’s unending love, steadfast support, and remarkable faith will echo through generations, leaving a forever legacy in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
