Frank L. Brum

Frank L. Brum, 84, of Marietta passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at his home.  He was born April 16, 1928, in Marietta at the Tremont Hospital a son of Harry and Ethel Lemley Brum.  

He graduated from Marietta High School in 1946 where he ran track and was a starter from 9th to 12th grades (ran ½ m at 2.02 min at OSU track meet).  Frank retired from B. F. Goodrich in 1988 after 40 years of service.  He coached a variety of sports to area youth and was especially proud of his undefeated Reno Warriors.    He volunteered at Campus Martius and River Museums, was president of Sandhill School alumni, was a member of 2 Fenton Clubs, was a volunteer deputy bailiff for Judge Nuzum, started Booster Club at MJHS and was president and received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteerism from The State of Ohio in 2000.
 
Frank was an avid collector of Fenton, antiques, sports and local memorabilia, followed OSU and all sports, was a big supporter of MC Pioneer baseball, and enjoyed go-cart racing.  In his early years he attended a 4-room schoolhouse where his mother was the custodian and he had to help her every day, obtained his driver’s license at the age of 14 due to his father’s health, was a part time farmer and a cook at the Lafayette.  He lovingly made beautiful dollhouses for his grandchildren and never met a stranger.
 
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Myers Brum.  He is also survived by his children and families:  Tom (Joan) Brum of Hamilton, OH and children Jessica (Aaron) Likes and Landon of Ft. Wayne, IN and Jared (Julie) Brum and daughter Bronwyn of Cheyenne, WY; Jack (Nancy) Brum of Marietta; Dave (Melissa) Brum and Rachel of Aurora, CO; Jo Anne (Tom) Huck of Marietta and children, Megan of Columbus and Aaron and Caitlin of Marietta.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Franklin, Jr. and his in-laws Harold and Ethel Myers.
 
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Mar. 13) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Don Seevers officiating.  Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 until 8:00.
