  • George Robert Rake

    George Robert Rake, a veteran of the Korean War, served as a corporal in the US Army passed away Sunday morning, September 22, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital at the age of 89.
    George was born December 24, 1934 to Robert L. and Ruth Kiggans Rake.

  • Martha Elizabeth Busch Ash

    Martha Elizabeth Busch Ash, 100, died at her home on September 18, 2024.  She was born on September 3, 1924 to John and Marjorie Billman Busch in Sardis, Ohio.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence E. Ash, and two sisters: Kathryn (Carl) Erwin of Phoenix, AZ and Anna Lee (Bob) Pawsey of Clyde, OH. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Warner, OH.  She loved to cross stitch, play cards, do word searches, and enjoyed a bouquet of flowers anytime.  Martha spent many years quilting, square dancing, and spent countless hours volunteering and fundraising in her woman’s club which helped to provide college scholarships.  She was also a big fan of OSU Football.

  • Rebecca “Becky” Ann Barker-Reuse

    Rebecca “Becky” Ann Barker-Reuse passed away after a serious car accident on September 14, 2024. Becky was 61 years old at the time of her passing.
    Becky was born January 28, 1963 in Cleveland, OH to Estill and Irma (Nutter) Barker. Becky left behind the love of her life, David Reuse, after nearly 20 years together. Becky and David built a home together and shared a family that includes two sons, Jonathan (Erin) Thomas of Berea, Ohio and David R. Reuse of Lower Salem; as well as two daughters, Penny (Joy) Thomas of Cleveland, OH and JoAnn Martinez of Brooklyn, OH.

  • Carole Sue Sparks Marsee

    Carole Sue Sparks Marsee, 80, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in Marietta, Ohio. She was born March 23, 1944, in Washington County, Ohio, a daughter of Flossie L. Clark Sparks and Herbert M. Sparks.
    Carole graduated from Marietta High School in 1962, she also graduated from Washington Technical College in 1987 with a degree in accounting. She worked in retail and food service the majority of her life, and in later years she also enjoyed arranging flowers to sell at Rinks Flea Market in Marietta. She also enjoyed word searches, coloring, and spending time with her family shopping or sharing meals.

  • Robert M. “Bob” Coil

    Robert M. “Bob” Coil, 81, passed away early Sunday morning September 8, 2024, due to complications from a fall on August 5.
    He was a member of the Marietta High School class of 1961 and was proud to be a 1959 state cross country meet qualifier for legendary Tiger track coach Bob Annasenz. He attended Ohio University, and then served in the US Army in the AG corps from 1962-1964. After two weeks of “peeling potatoes” in Stuttgart, Germany, he received a TDY to Geneva, Switzerland where he was immediately trained in typing and shorthand and assigned to Army Staff HQ. Near the end of his two years in Geneva, he was loaned out to be an Army stenographer to the State Department during the 1964 Geneva Nuclear Disarmament talks. It depended on the day as to whether he was prouder of that service or running a 4:47 mile in combat boots during his basic training.

  • L. Jane Hardesty Walker

    L. Jane Hardesty Walker, 75, of Marietta passed away at 10:30 am, Friday, September 6, 2024. She was born February 22, 1949, in Parkersburg a daughter of James S. Hardesty and Gertrude Lee VanAman.
    Jane was a graduate of Marietta High School and Dental Hygienist School in Columbus. She retired from Jobs & Family Services after 30 years. She was the first woman to serve on Marietta City Council. She was an avid reader and wonderful writer and she had an infectious laugh and never had a bad word about anyone. She loved her family, especially grandchildren and was a dog lover.
