  • Stephen R. Hiener

    Stephen R. Hiener, 76, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Harmar Place. He was born in Marietta on July 5, 1948, a son of Raymond Hiener and Doris Hudnall Hiener.
    Steve was a 1966 graduate of Waterford High School and a 1979 graduate of Glenville State. He was a contractor and mason. He loved to play golf, travel and camp and his dogs, “Faith” and “Seven.” He was a faithful member of Moss Run Community Church.

  • Ruth Ellen Orr Hendershot

    Ruth Ellen Orr Hendershot, 90, of Germantown passed away early morning on May 17, 2025.
    She was born on September 14, 1934 in Sarahsville to Urban Orr and Mary (Stevens) Orr Rogers. Ruth was a 1953 graduate of Salem Liberty High School and had been employed as a seamstress for over 40 years with Zide’s Sport Shop. She loved sewing, flowers, gardening, camping and just spending time with her family and friends visiting on her front porch swing. She was a 50+ year member with Eastern Star Masterton Chapter #584.
    In 1977 she married Jack Hendershot who preceded her in death on December 31, 2014.

    Helen L. Hilverding, 93, of Marietta passed away at 1:56am, Friday, May 16, 2025, at her home.
    She was born October 11, 1931, in Canton, Ohio, a daughter of Thomas Gaspers and Hila Jones Gaspers. Helen was a devoted employee of Wendy’s on Pike Street.

    Our beloved mother, Gertrude Ann (Gertie) Fryman, 89, of Marietta, passed away on May 14, 2025. She was born March 9, 1936, in Gary, Indiana, a daughter of Fred Legleitner, Sr and Jaunita Hufford Legleitner. She is preceded in death by her sister Patricia Foy and brother Fred Legleitner Jr.
    Gertie held various jobs throughout her life and retired from Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Sixth and Washington.
    On Nov. 1, 1957, she married Bill Fryman, who preceded her in death.

    Marietta Filabaum, 100, of Marietta passed away on May 13, 2025 at Harmar Place.
    A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday June 21st at Valley View Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Miller officiating.  According to her wishes she was cremated and was buried with her mother in Union Cemetery in Arnold, PA.  McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

    Michael James Paul Ward, 66, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away at his home on May 12, 2025, surrounded by his devoted wife and children.
    Born on April 9, 1959, in Marietta, to Anna Marie and William Ward. A lifelong resident of Marietta, he was a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to his family.
    Michael was a machinist by trade and spent over 30 years at Skuttle Manufacturing where he served as Plant Manager. He later continued his career as Director of Maintenance at Glenwood Retirement Home.

  • Kenneth McMahon

    Kenneth McMahon, 68, of Belpre, Ohio passed away on Monday May 12th.
    He was born on March 6, 1957, in Marietta, Ohio. A son of Ervin and Opal Kuehn McMahon. Ken had been employed as a machinist for several years, and later worked in security services for over 40 years and just retired in January 2025.
    Ken taught himself to play guitar and had a strong interest for music, playing guitar, singing and repairing instruments that needed special attention. He enjoyed getting together with friends to play music, and sing.
