  • Sheldon Lee Turrill

    Sheldon Lee Turrill, 88, of Delaware, Ohio lost his valiant battle with COVID-19 and passed away at Riverside Hospital on Sunday afternoon December 20, 2020. He was just one week away from receiving the vaccine that might have saved his life.
    Born on November 15, 1932 in Marietta, Ohio, Sheldon served his country as an Airman First Class (A1C) Radio Operator in the United States Air Force. During the Korean War, he was in the 807th Tactical Control Squadron stationed in Mississippi and Germany (1950-1954), where he deciphered enemy intelligence and communications via Morse code.
    Sheldon was a proud graduate of Marietta High School class of 1950. After receiving his Bachelor of Science and master’s degree in Geology at Ohio University, he became an ambitious and a life-long entrepreneur. Sheldon was highly respected in his field often consulting on various drilling projects across the country and co-founding many oil and gas businesses, such as, Chris Oil Company, Easy Drilling and JEB Drilling to name a few.

  • Richard Leroy Thomas

    Richard Leroy Thomas, 84, of Newport, Ohio, gained his angel wings on December 19, 2020, at Selby Hospital.
    Richard worked at Brickwede Brothers, Ashland Oil, Greenlees Construction before retiring from Newport Township after 30 years. He was a very hard worker that loved pumping his oil well that he and his father started together and Richard missed him deeply.

    Jesse S. Becker, 56, of Marietta passed away December 19, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
    He was born January 29, 1964, the son of Jacob Becker (deceased) and Faye Patrick of Florida.

  • Steven Ray Haas

    Steven Ray Haas, 61, of Waterford, passed away peacefully at his home of cancer on the afternoon of December 18, 2020 with his loving wife, Kelly, by his side.
    Steven was born July 9, 1959, to the late Edward Adam Haas and Grace Imogene Williamson Haas in Marietta. He was employed with Mon Power as a Head Mechanic for 17 years. His favorite activity was hunting deer.

  • William E. “Billy” LaBarre

    William E. “Billy” LaBarre, 51, of Marietta passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 29, 1969, a son of William Edward and Lynn Ehnot LaBarre.
    Billy went to Marietta High School and was a 1987 graduate from Parkersburg Catholic High. He attended 3 years at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA and then worked at Big Bear and Peoples Bank before he joined his father at Cadre Construction for over 20 years. He later was employed at Crescent & Sprague, Westfall Construction, Danser Construction, Carr Concrete and was currently employed by ProOne Electric. Billy was a member of Soul’s Harbor Baptist Church. He was a big fan of OSU and the Dallas Cowboys and loved spending time with his family

    Randall Allan Chutes, 61, of Marietta passed away at 9:46 am, Tuesday (Dec. 15, 2020) at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born June 9, 1959, in Marietta a son of the late Larry Chutes and Shirley Baumgard Smith.
    Randy was a graduate of Marietta High School. He retired from AAA as a driving instructor and was a member of Marietta Masonic Lodge and Patriot Guard Riders.

    Mollie Michelle Barickman, 44, of Marietta passed away December 12, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born July 12, 1976 in Marietta to Joyce (Salster) Scott and the late Charles “Scotty” Scott Jr. Mollie loved to read and work puzzle books.
    In addition to her mother, Mollie is survived by a sister Dawn Sarringhausan, 8 special nieces and nephews, 2 great nieces and a great nephew.
