  • Mary Jean Brilliant

    Mary Jean Brilliant, 88, of Marietta passed away at 11:00 am, on Monday, May 04, 2020, at Heartland of Marietta.
    Mary was born on February17, 1932, in Harriestville to John Riley and Lottie Lee McConnel. She had been a nurse’s aide at Marietta Memorial Hospital until her retirement.
    Mary is survived by her 3 sons: Donald (Patsy) Brilliant of Newport, Ronald (Kathy) Brilliant of Williamstown and Frank Brilliant of North Carolina and her daughter Ginny (Dr. Peter) Urda of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother and two sisters.

  • Twila E. Doak

    Twila E. Doak, 94, long-time resident of the Oak Grove Community, passed away May 2, 2020. For the last several years she has lived at Harmar Place in Marietta, where she received excellent skilled-care nursing. She was a farm wife who was frequently outstanding in her field. She was an excellent cook, a hard-working field hand, and good at recognizing and doing things that needed to be done, whatever the situation. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard C. Doak, on December 31, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Gladys Epler, her sister, Opal Y. Dye, and her son-in-law, Lee Parsons.
    Twila applied herself to her family’s needs and her Christianity with all her ability. She was an active member of the Harmar Hill Church of Christ, where she served as an elder’s wife and leader among the women of the church. She was a member of the Stepping Stones for Ohio Valley College and led many efforts to raise money for OVC, especially cooking and catering large events in the local community. Twila was also a member of local farm leadership organizations, such as the Farm Bureau Council and Lowell Grange No. 2475. She was willing to step in and use her elbow grease wherever there was a need in the community.

  • Antoinette ”Toni“ Olff

    With great sadness we announce the passing of Antoinette” Toni “ Olff age 93 of Marietta Ohio. She went to the lord on May 1 surrounded by her loving family. She left this role in life to perform on another stage in heaven.
    She was born into the family of William Harvey Vance and Carrie (Elmendorf) Vance and sister Alpha on Sept 30 1926. She grew up in up in Chatham, New Jersey and was a 1944 graduate of Chatham High School.
    In 1993 she retired from Public Debt but remained in contact with many of her coworkers. She was also past President of the Women’s Club, a member of the Beta Sigma Phi, and an active member of the Methodist church in Williamstown, West Va. Another one of Toni’s Passion was cooking. Every year she made her famous fruit cakes, Christmas cookies and on many occasion made her interesting mystery meals.  One of the things our mother loved most was having her family together for family dinners.

  • JoAnne Huffman

    JoAnne Huffman, 83, of Marietta, went home to be with her Savior Friday Evening. May 1, 2020 at Heartland of Marietta, where she resided for the past few months.
    While after returning to Marietta. they operating the Ashland Oil distributorship and Huffman’s Trailer Park in Reno, but they were probably best known by many for managing Rinky Dinks Flea Market. JoAnne’s greatest enjoyment (along with Ronnie & Cathey), however, was serving God together with Seedline Ministries in their local church. Weekly they spent hours assembling booklets of John and Romans for Hispanics and others, doing their part to help spread the Gospel to many who have never heard. JoAnne was an active and faithful member of Soul’s Harbor Baptist Church and loved her church family.

  • Steven Douglas Smith

    On Wednesday, April 29th, 2020, Steven Douglas Smith passed away after battling cancer for the past 3 years at the age of 48.
    Steven was born September 28, 1971 in Marietta, OH to Michael Smith and Diana Pugh. He is survived by his parents Diana and Shaan Pugh and Michael and Roseanna Smith, his sisters Jennifer Eddy (Deane) and Tanessa Pugh, three children, Kevin Corp, Loren Boley (two grandchildren Ryu and Malia), and Mason Smith, his significant other Melissa Landis, grandmother Maxine June Doak, and his aunts and uncles Mary Ward (Terry), Jody Pugh, Shane Pugh, and Dixie Stolarik.

  • Loring Edgar Brooks

    Loring Edgar Brooks, 80, of Waterford passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020, at home from Parkinson’s Disease in the loving care of his wife and soul mate of 63 years.
    Loring was born October 11, 1939, in Washington County to the late Delbert Ira and Florence Bertha Miller Brooks. He met Lucille Hanlon at Liberty United Church when they were 13 years old and were married on January 26, 1957 at 6th and Washington Street Church of Christ. They are members of Fifth Street Church of Christ in Beverly.
    Loring worked at Ludlow Township, Harra Equipment, Williamstown Pottery and retired from B. F. Goodrich/RJF International after 42 years. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, camping, restoring his 1960 Ford Convertible Sunliner car, and making wine to fill his 12’ x 8’ wine rack he built for family and friends. While battling Parkinson’s he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing on the Wii.

  • Robert E. Hodge, Jr.

    Robert E. Hodge, Jr., 44, of Lowell passed away at 3:05 am on Friday, April 24, 2020. He was born of March 24, 1976 in Marietta a son of Robert Eugene Hodge, Sr. of Marietta and the late Charlene Goudy Hodge.
    He was employed as a Correctional Officer in Noble County and was an avid guitar player and drummer.
