  • Norma Jean Green Fischer

    Norma June Green Fischer, 90, of Williamstown passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Worthington Care Center in Parkersburg, WV. She was born June 29, 1929, in Washington County, Ohio, a daughter of Jessie Arthur Green and Audrey May Parsons.
    Norma was a graduate of Waterford High School in 1947. She was a member of Boaz Baptist Church and enjoyed needlepoint, baby sitting-childcare, reading, walking and cooking.
    On December 19, 1947 she married Henry Donald Fischer, Jr. and they enjoyed 43 years of marriage. He preceded her in death.

  • Jeanette Piatt Gregory

    Jeanette Piatt Gregory. 76, of Marietta passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, at 3:30 am at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born July 20, 1943, a daughter of Edgar “Mike” and Mary Ann Menke Piatt.
    Jeanette graduated from Williamstown High School in 1961 and attended Fairmont State College and Washington State Community College and graduated from Valley Beauty School. She was the Fiscal Officer to Marietta Township from 1996 until 2020, Coordinator for Washington County Township Association Employee Safety Program, Treasurer for Washington County Township Association, Secretary for Washington County Health Board, and Washington County Township Association Treasurer. She was a member of Gilman United Methodist Church,

  • Tony Lee Carpenter

    Tony Lee Carpenter, 49, of Parkersburg, WV passed away 7:38 am February 8, 2020 at Eagle Point Nursing Home.
    He was born February 14, 1970 in Washington County to Ralph and Wilma (Benson) Carpenter. Surviving are sons Tony Carpenter and Luke Carpenter and a daughter Shianne Carpenter all of Marietta. Also surviving are brothers Brian Carpenter and Tim Carpenter and a sister Connie Vaughn along with several nieces and nephews.

    Richard Lewis Farmer, 55, of Marietta went home to be with the Lord at 9:11 pm, Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
    He was born on April 17, 1954, in Marietta a son of Harry and Virginia Burchett Farmer. He was employed as a professional painter. Richard attended Gospel Baptist Church at Torch, OH.

  • Wayne Martin

    Edward Wayne Martin, 88, of Marietta passed away February 5, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born January 14, 1932 in Albany, Ohio to John Martin and Emma Bolin Martin and Story Young.
    Wayne owned and operated Martin’s Appliance Service for over 40 years. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 458 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1623.
    On February 10, 1952 Wayne married Charolett Miller who preceded him in death On February 6, 2012.

  • David R. “Dave” Cunningham

    David “Dave” Robert Cunningham, 71, of Williamstown, WV, passed away suddenly at his home on February 4, 2020. David had fought bravely for many years to overcome numerous medical challenges including multiple myeloma, diabetes, and heart disease.
    David was born in Weston, WV on January 13, 1949 to Robert Morgan Cunningham and Mary Eloise (Peninegar) Cunningham.
    David was an active participant in Boy Scouts during his youth, notably participating in The West Virginia Centennial Parade of Flags in Washington, D.C. during President Kennedy’s tenure. He served on the staff of Boy Scout Camp Mountaineer as an orienteering instructor. David achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout on May 4, 1964, receiving his pin from his parents.

  • Marion (Mather) Hill

    Marion (Mather) Hill, 94, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Williamstown, WV passed away peacefully at her home on February 3, 2020. She was born on April 17, 1925 in Swickley, PA to Bessie and Christy Holtzapfel.
    Marion had many friends and enjoyed hosting card games, camping, reading and bingo.
    She is survived by her loving children George Mather (Kim), Linda Smearman, Kathy Mather (Joe); 4 grandchildren, Tammie Kerns (Mark), Heather Satterfield (Jodie), Steve Mather, Kerri Smearman (Mike); 1 sister, Lois Grub; 2 daughters-in-law, Opal Mather and Bonnie Mather; 5 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
