    Clarence Emil Piatt, 96, of Rinard Mills passed away at 5:08 pm, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at The Arbors of Woodsfield. He was born June 3, 1923, in Rinard Mills to Thurman and Phena Jane Nalley Piatt.
    Clarence had been employed by River Gas Company until his retirement in 1984 and was a farmer and school bus driver.

  • Richard L. “Dick” Poole

    Richard L. “Dick” Poole, 86, of Reno passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 4, 1933, in Reno, a son of Homer D. and Genevieve Wiggins Poole.
    He married Bessie Skinner Poole who preceded him in death in 2005. He loved and missed her so.
    Dick attended Sandhill School and Marietta High School. He enjoyed the reunions with his Sandhill friends. He was employed by Pattin Manufacturing, Washington County Highway Department, and Metaltech Corp. The relationships with his co-workers were very important to Dick and he enjoyed getting together with them, even into retirement.

  • Constance “Connie” N. Ward

    Constance “Connie” N. Ward, 80, of Marietta passed away December 9, 2019 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
    She was born August 17, 1939 in Oswego, NY to Elmon Lee Taplin and Leah Mae Caster Taplin Matthews. She was a graduate of Oswego High School.
    In 1978 Connie married James Ward who survives with her children Donald R. (Deborah D.) Turley of St. Marys and Deborah Kay Clatterbuck of Marietta. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. A sister Yvonne Consalvo of Florida and a half sister Sheila Lewis of Tennessee and several nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law also survive.

  • Kyley Buvalla

    Kyley Buvalla, 28, of Lowell passed away after her courageous 2 year battle with brain cancer at 3:20 am, December 5, 2019, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
    She was born on April 29, 1991 in Parkersburg, WV. Kyley was a 2009 graduate of Fort Frye High School and loved to play cards, eat good food and spend time with her family and friends.
    Surviving are her parents, Dayna and Brian Wagner, siblings Sarah Beth and Benjamin Wagner; grandparents Neil and Wilma Wagner of Lowell; uncles: Derrek Buvalla, Dave (Tiny) Buvalla and Kevin (Kenna) Wagner and dog “Baylee,”. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Janice and Donald Buvalla and Aunt Joyce Chutz.
    Kyley was an organ donor and was able to donate her corneas. She will continue to help someone else see the world through her beautiful blue eyes.

  • Marilyn Joann Brum

    Marilyn Joann Brum, 86, of Marietta passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2019, at her home at Elmcroft. She was born August 18, 1933, the only child of Harold and Ethel Myers.
    She graduated from Marietta HS in 1949 at age 16, because she had insisted upon starting first grade at age 4, with her older cousins. After Graduation, she attended Harding University, later working at Montgomery Ward and Broughton’s Restaurant.
    She was a full time homemaker until her children were grown. Then she worked at Harts and Marietta College bookstore. She also volunteered for 17 years at Campus Martius, Marietta Visitors Bureau and in her daughter’s kindergarten classroom at Reno School. Marilyn was also a member of Pride & Joy CCL, several Fenton Clubs, and Sixth and Washington Church of Christ.
    She enjoyed game shows, trivia, reading, crossword puzzles and any kind of chocolate. She often thought of her beloved friends and family.

  • Freda V. Thompson

    Freda V. Thompson, 84, of Marietta passed away at her home on Sunday, December 1, 2019, surrounded by her family.
    Freda was born in Belmont County, Ohio, on October 21, 1935, and was raised in Noble County by Charles and Beryl VanFossen. Freda was a lifelong member of the Lower Paw Paw church of Christ.
    On November 21, 1953, she married Galen Thompson who preceded her in death April 12, 2015 after 61 years of marriage.

  • Ralph Lee Trippett

    On Sunday, December 1,2019 Ralph was called home.
    Ralph, age 59, was born on October 15,1960, in Parkersburg, WV. He was the son of Shirley Lee Trippett. He graduated from Marietta High School and Nashville Auto Diesel College. These events lead him to become a truck driver for many years, where he was proud of his on-time deliveries and his driving reputation.
    Ralph enjoyed reading western books, fishing, riding his horse Phantom, spending time with his family, dancing and listening to music with his youngest daughter. While his children were in 4-H, Ralph found much enjoyment in helping with the 4-H clover sales at TSC; and watching his daughter shoot at Bull’s-Eye, along with many other events the clubs participated in.
